Firefighters have warned people not to leave cooking unattended after a pan of oil caught alight. Crews were called to the kitchen blaze in Cumberland Avenue, Canterbury, at about 5.30pm yesterday (Wednesday). Two fire engines attended, and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished flames on the hob using hose reel jets within half an hour. No injuries were reported and it is believed to have started accidentally.
