A high-ranking Italian general has been suspended from duty for 11 months following the discovery of controversial comments by him in a book on homosexuals, environmentalists and immigrants. Defence Minister Guido Crosetto ordered Roberto Vannacci’s suspension, Vannacci’s lawyer said in Rome on Wednesday. His salary will be cut in half during this time.
