Russia’s leading opposition politician Alexei Navalny, who died in custody two weeks ago, will be buried in Moscow on Friday, with mourners expected to be met by a large police presence. The church service is planned for 2 pm (1100 GMT), with the burial scheduled for two hours later, Navalny’s spokeswoman Kira Yarmysh announced on Thursday. The funeral will take place at the Borisov cemetery, a 28 minute walk from the church.
