A trial has begun in France against railway officials more than eight years after a fatal train accident in the eastern region of Alsace. The French railway company SNCF, two subsidiaries and three people who were employees at the time went on trial in Paris on Monday on suspicion of negligent bodily harm and homicide. They face several years in prison and fines if convicted. Eleven people died and 42 others were injured in the accident, which happened in November 2015.
