A Kent MP has supported a new law to stop puppy smugglers from importing unwell dogs. South Thanet MP Craig Mackinlay says the Animal Welfare Bill will help to bring puppy smuggling to an end. Under the Bill, people selling pets would be banned from importing puppies under six months old. The law means heavily pregnant dogs would also not be allowed to travel, and “mutilated” animals, such as puppies with cropped ears, would also be stopped.
