A person was treated at hospital for burns to their head after a fire spread from a car port to a house. Paramedics and fire crews were on scene just after 12pm today after the blaze broke out in Carter Close, Hawkinge. Paramedics treated one person after they suffered minor burns on their head. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames using a hose reel jet and a main jet. Speaking after the incident, a fire service spokesman said: “It’s believed the fire started in a carport and spread to the adjoining house. “However, the root cause is not yet known.”
