A pilot has died after a small aeroplane crashed in the Rheingau-Taunus district to the west of the German city of Frankfurt on Saturday. The pilot was the only occupant to die, according to a statement from the fire brigade. It reported a large-scale operation in the Aarbergen-Michelbach area, in which a police helicopter was also involved. The aircraft crashed into the forest between the Michelbach area and a glider airfield at around 2:20 pm (1220 GMT). The crash site was cordoned off by the police. The fire brigade was deployed as fuel had also escaped.
