Xiaomi seems to have accidentally released some updates for the Poco F6 Pro, although the phone has not yet been officially announced. According to GSMArena, these updates reveal the phone’s codename as “Vermeer,” which is also the name of the Chinese Redmi K70 model.
Xiaomi usually avoids reusing codenames for different devices. However, it seems that in the case of the Poco F6 Pro, they have taken a somewhat lazy approach. Nevertheless, this connection suggests that the Poco F6 Pro is essentially a rebranded version of the Redmi K70.
If this connection is confirmed, the Poco F6 Pro will have impressive specs. The phone is expected to be equipped with a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. It appeared on Geekbench with the same SoC and 16 GB of RAM.
Rebranding Redmi phones is not a new strategy for Poco. It recently launched the Poco X6 Pro, which borrowed a lot from the Redmi K70E. However, there were some compromises made in the X6 Pro, including a smaller battery and slower charging compared to the K70E.
Fortunately, it seems that Poco F6 Pro will not face such limitations. The leaked information suggests that the phone will be equipped with a large 6.67-inch OLED display with a clear QHD+ resolution.
On the back, we can expect a camera system led by a 50-megapixel primary sensor. And for fast charging, the phone is rumored to support fast charging with a capacity of up to 120 watts.
A leak earlier this week revealed that Poco may launch the F6 Pro smartphone globally in June. So, there’s still a little bit of time left before the phone hits the mass market. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on any new details that emerge regarding this device.
