Tokyo stocks rose slightly Tuesday morning, as technology stocks tracked gains in their U.S. counterparts and some major insurance firms were bought after releasing favorable earnings results. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 66.23 points, or 0.17 percent, from Monday to 39,135.91. The broader Topix index was up 4.53 points, or 0.16 percent, at 2,772.57.
