Authorities in northern Kosovo have closed six branches of Serbian banks, in a move which could further inflame difficult relations between the two Balkan states. Kosovan police seized €1.6 million ($1.74 million), 74.7 million Serbian dinars ($690,000) and smaller amounts in several other currencies during Monday’s operation, Pristina-based daily newspaper Koha Ditore reported on Tuesday.
