House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) has announced two new additions to the House Intelligence Committee — Reps. Scott Perry (R-Pennsylvania) and Ronny Jackson (R-Texas). Perry’s selection in particular is noteworthy, given that he will now have oversight over the agency currently investigating him. In late 2023, the New York Times reported that Perry’s phone was seized as part of the FBI’s investigation into the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
