The Huawei Mate 60 series of flagship phones were announced as part of the Pioneer program in August 2023 in China. There are rumors that Huawei is preparing to launch the Mate 70 series, although no official release date has been announced. It is likely to happen in August or September this year. A new leak has appeared on Weibo that shows the front panel design of the Mate 70 Pro.
According to a picture shared by leaker Setsuna Digital, Huawei Mate 70 Pro will keep the three front perforations as in the Mate 60 Pro, with a similar location and diameter. This suggests that the front panel design will remain largely unchanged, with potential optimization of the screen bezel for a larger screen-to-body ratio.
The Mate 70 Pro’s screen is expected to offer a better visual experience as Huawei is the only manufacturer to use a three-hole design. Huawei has thoughtfully included a system feature to hide the holes, making the space between them look black, similar to the Smart Island on the iPhone.
Recall that the front of the Mate 60 Pro has a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle selfie camera, a 3D ToF sensor, and additional sensors and lasers for 3D face mapping. It’s likely that the Mate 70 Pro could have the same set of sensors on the front.
As for the back design, the Huawei Mate 70 series will reportedly feature a round lens module, but with new design elements to improve recognition and business look. The series will offer both a straight and curved screen, with the former likely for the standard version and the latter for the Mate 70 Pro and higher-end models.
