German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will discuss the problems arising from irregular migration with the leaders of the country’s state governments in Berlin on Thursday. The premiers will first meet for separate talks at midday, before meeting Scholz later in the afternoon. The states led by the conservative CDU/CSU parties are primarily pushing for asylum procedures to be carried out in third countries outside the European Union.
