Modern pentathlete Annika Zillekens has been named into Germany’s team for the Paris Olympics, three years after her much-publicised fiasco with an assigned horse at the Tokyo Games. Competing under her maiden name Schleu at the time, she dropped from first to last after the show-jumping part of the competition which she could’t complete because her horse refused to jump over several obstacles. Zillekens was criticised for excessive use of the whip and German coach Kim Raisner kicked out of the Games for punching the horse.
