German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has invited the Germany national team to the chancellor’s office in a phone conversation with coach Julian Nagelsmann on Sunday, according to government sources. A date hasn’t been set yet. Scholz would like to honour the players with a special gesture despite the Euro 2024 exit in the quarter-finals after a 2-1 defeat to Spain in extra time. Scholz was in attendance against Spain, as well as in three other Euro 2024 matches. The only game he missed was the opening match against Scotland because he was at the G7 summit in Italy.
