Yobe State Police Command has arrested Mallam Auwalu Haruna, a self-proclaimed marabout, for alleged abduction and impregnation of a 20-year-old lady. According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the police recorded 34 cases of gender-based violence (GBV) and related crimes between January and June 2024, with 85% currently undergoing trial and a few convictions secured.
