Honor has just launched its Magic V3 and Magic Vs 3 book-shaped folding smartphones in China. The company released Honor Magic 6 in January of this year. Nevertheless, the Honor Magic 7 series has already managed to get into the rumor mill. According to rumors, the series will be equipped with a “billion-pixel camera” (i.e. 1000 megapixels). The news comes from a Weibo informant 智慧皮卡丘.
He also adds that the series will also be equipped with variable aperture technology and the company’s own image architecture. As for the battery life, it is expected to be equipped with a high-capacity battery of about 6000 mAh.
To get an idea of the design, we can refer to the predecessor’s camera system, which also offered pretty good image quality. The Magic 6 Pro also offers a variable aperture of f/1.4-2.0 for the main camera. Both Magic 6 and Magic 6 Pro feature 50MP 1/1.3″ primary sensors. The OmniVision sensor used in the main camera has the highest dynamic range in the industry, which helps it adapt to shooting conditions with unfavorable brightness and contrast. The sensor supports ultra-dynamic HDR shooting, which can increase dynamic range by 800%.
However, the telephoto is different between the two versions. While both the regular and Pro versions feature 2.5x telephoto, the telephoto model comes with a periscope module and also boasts a 180-megapixel high-resolution sensor, compared to the 32-megapixel sensor on the standard models. It is worth noting that the 1/1.49-inch telephoto sensor of the professional model supports a 16-in-1 pixel split to simulate pixels as small as 2.24 microns. The periscope module has an aperture of f/2.6, giving the Magic 6 Pro up to 100x digital zoom. In contrast, the Magic 6 offers 50x digital zoom.
Both phones feature the same 50-megapixel sensor for an ultra-wide-angle camera with a 122° field of view.
