The Olympic Village for the Paris Games opened on Thursday as the first of an expected 14,000 athletes and team officials moved in. The village in the Seine-Saint-Denis department just outside Paris measures 52 hectares and consists of 82 buildings for the Olympians at the July 26-August 11 Games. It also accommodates several thousands of staff. Post-Olympics the site is to become a new residential and office area with shops.
