The official portrait of Charles as the King of Canada has been released more than a year after his coronation. King Charles automatically became Sovereign of Canada after Queen Elizabeth died. The portrait features the monarch wearing the Order of Canada medal, which was bestowed on him in 2017 by then-Governor General David Johnston. He is also bearing medals from Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. The Department of Canadian Heritage said the portrait was taken in the White Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace last month.
