A statue in memory of a police dog who saved the life of his handler is to be erected in Hertfordshire. Finn – also known as Fabulous Finn – died peacefully in his sleep on July 27 last year aged 14. He became famous after he was stabbed and suffered life-threatening injuries while he protected his handler, PC Dave Wardell, during an incident in Stevenage in 2016. He was stabbed in the head and chest but survived and returned to duty before retiring from service in 2017.
