Exxon Mobil, a US multinational oil and gas corporation based in Irving, Texas, reported earnings for its second quarter that increased from the same period last year and beat analysts’ estimates. The company’s earnings totalled $9.24 billion, or $2.14 per share. This compares with $7.88 billion, or $1.94 per share, in last year’s second quarter. Analysts on average had expected the company to earn $2.01 per share. Analysts’ estimates typically exclude special items. The company’s revenue for the quarter rose 12.2% to $93.06 billion from $82.914 billion last year.
