Serbian tennis great Novak Djokovic has won his first Olympic gold medal after beating Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-2) in the final of the men’s singles in Paris. Top seed Djokovic, the record men’s grand slam champion with 24 titles, wasted three break points at 2-1 in the first set and edged a marathon service game for 5-4 before spurning set point at 6-5.
