Mircea Lucescu has returned as Romania national team coach after 38 years and at age 79. The national federation appointed Lucescu on what is said to be a two-year contract until the 2026 World Cup. He succeeds Edward Iordanescu, who did not renew his contract after a last 16 exit at Euro 2024. Lucescu’s first term was 1981-1986 and he led the team to Euro 2024.
