Huawei launched the Huawei Mate X as its first foldable phone in 2019. Now, the brand is reportedly working on announcing the world’s first triple-folding phone. Social media platforms in China are circulating the following image of Huawei’s General Manager of Consumer Business Yu Richard holding the upcoming tri-fold phone.

In a recent post on Weibo, a reliable informant told Digital Chat Station that he had seen a prototype of the world’s first tri-folding phone. This device folds both inward and outward using a double hinge mechanism. The screen size is estimated to be around 10 inches, and the bend control is reportedly well established.

However, the device is thicker than a regular folding phone, which is understandable. In addition, the phone uses several advanced technologies, which makes it unlikely that competitors will appear in the near future. He also said that the device will be priced at a premium.

In a post on Weibo today, DCS said that Richard Yu’s actual three-fold phone matches the prototype he previously used during the research and development phase. As you can see in the image, the screen has a camera hole in the upper left corner.

Under the hood of Huawei’s three-fold phone will be a Kirin 9-series chipset. He stated that the device will debut before the Mate 70.

Earlier this month, Huawei unveiled the Nova Flip in China. It is speculated that the Nova 13 series of smartphones may be introduced this month or in September. Reports indicate that the Mate 70 series will not be launched until Q4 2024. This suggests that Huawei’s tri-fold phone may break the cover in September or October.
