The local health department warned people on Thursday not to use the water in a western German town after the discovery of a cut fence at a drinking water reservoir. The news of the potential contamination in Mechernich in the state of North Rhine Westphalia came the day after the German Air Force barracks in Cologne was closed due to the initially unconfirmed suspicion that the water supply may have been sabotaged.
