Three mountaineers have fallen to their deaths on the Matterhorn mountain in Switzerland within the space of a few days, local police said on Satuday. An alpinist died on Friday after falling approximately 800 metres, the police said. That came two days after two mountaineers plummeted 1,000 metres to their deaths. The two set off from a mountain hut on Wednesday morning to scale the 4,478-metre peak. When they did not return from their expedition as planned, officials launched a search operation.
