More than 100 counter-protesters have gathered in Dover town centre in anticipation of a planned demonstration by far-right groups. Members of organisations such as Stand Up to Racism and the Socialist Party have attended in large numbers in Market Square. There is also a significant police presence, with large vans and up to 20 officers at the scene. The counter-protest comes in the wake of a planned anti-immigration demonstration that had been expected to take place today.
