Bishop’s Stortford’s Conservation Area has been boosted by new lampposts in St Michael’s churchyard. Ageing light columns had to be removed as internal corrosion made them unsafe. Their replacement was underwritten from Herts county councillor Cllr Alastair Ward-Booth’s highways locality budget – every member of the authority has £90,000 a year to spend on small projects in their division.
