The Bishop’s Stortford rugby club community is reeling from the devastating news that one of its playing members has died of a suspected cardiac arrest at the age of 31. Max Oliver, who was engaged to be married, was taken ill on his way to work on Thursday (September 5). Medics at the scene and in hospital were unable to resuscitate him. Max, the son of former chairman Perry Oliver, joined the club as a junior and was a member and captain of the club’s fourth XV, the Chindits.
