Hundreds of people were airlifted by helicopter from Switzerland’s remote Saas Valley on Saturday, after a storm and landslide rendered the road to the region impassable. The air bridge was set up on Friday for around 2,200 stranded tourists, many of whom were from Switzerland. Those who were stranded paid 140 Swiss francs ($166) for the flight from around Saas-Fee to Stalden, taking just a few minutes.
