The European Union’s veterinary authority has agreed to remove Sweden from its list of countries with infections of African Swine Fever (ASF), Swedish authorities said on Monday. The announcement comes around a year after the highly infectious disease – which affects pigs and wild boars, but not humans – was found in the country. The decision is to be published in the European Commission’s official journal within a week, after which Sweden will be officially declared ASF-free.
