Archaeologists have discovered hundreds of ancient drawings in the Peruvian desert thanks to the use of artificial intelligence (AI). The 2,000-year-old Nazca lines are giant drawings of plants and animals, which can only be seen from the sky. They were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. Scientists trained an AI model to read aerial photographs of the site. The newly discovered drawings, or geoglyphs, are smaller and older than the Nazca lines and other figures found to date.
