World number two Alexander Zverev has withdrawn from the upcoming China Open tournament, the ATP said on Tuesday, without giving a reason. Germany’s Zverev played at the Laver Cup in Berlin Friday to Sunday but complained about a fever there. He has suffered health setbacks on several occasions this season. The China Open in Beijing start on Thursday and run until October 2. They are followed immediately by the Shanghai Masters event. Whether Zverev will play there remains unclear.
