A growing share of older Germans are continuing to work all the way through retirement age, according to a new report from the German Employment Agency released on Thursday. The number of employees between the ages of 55 and retirement age almost tripled between December 2000 and December 2023 to nearly 8 million, the agency said, citing data from worker contributions to Germany’s social insurance system.
