The update for the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is being rolled out on the Verizon network in the United States. However, the software update will soon be available on other carriers and unlocked versions. Just like last time, the update comes with a security patch from October 2024 and has firmware version S721USQS2AXI5. It’s a minor update, so there aren’t any major new features or software changes that come with it.

However, Samsung is probably preparing for something much bigger. The end of the year is approaching, and the release of the next generation of Android 15 is just around the corner.

The company’s upcoming 2025 flagships, the Galaxy S25 series, are expected to debut with this new version of Android. Samsung offers its devices with a custom One UI shell, and the next iteration is One UI 7.0. This major update will be available on the Galaxy S24 series of smartphones, namely the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra, as well as the latest Fan Edition model.

Thus, the October 2024 update will be released just before the One UI 7.0 update for Galaxy S24 FE. This will also be the first major OS update for a budget flagship phone.

As a reminder, Samsung has promised to provide firmware updates for the Galaxy S24 FE for seven years. To check if you’ve received the update, go to Settings, then to Software Update and click Download and install.
