Newcastle United are in an interesting position this season. Broadly, they have started the season well. Newcastle have tasted defeat only once in their opening seven Premier League games and sit just two points off the top four. Still, it would be fair to say that they have not always convinced. They dominated the game at Everton before the international break but could not find a way through, while they have laboured despite victories over Wolves, Southampton and Tottenham.
