Japan logged a 294.3 billion yen ($1.97 billion) trade deficit in September, government data showed Thursday. Exports fell 1.7 percent while imports increased 2.1 percent from a year earlier, according to the Finance Ministry. In the first half of fiscal 2024 through September, Japan had a trade deficit of 3.11 trillion yen, the ministry said in a preliminary report.
