The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that an airstrike on Beirut on October 4 killed the head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council, Hashem Safieddine, who was likely to succeed Hassan Nasrallah following his elimination, according to the Times of Israel. Hezbollah’s head of intelligence, Hussein Ali Hazima, was killed alongside Safieddine. The target of the strike was Hezbollah’s underground intelligence headquarters in Beirut.
