George Russell of Mercedes topped the first practice on Friday for the Formula One Mexican Grand Prix, in a session that was interrupted by two red flags. Russell clocked the fastest time of 1 minute 17.998 seconds, beating the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz by 0.317s. Yuki Tsunoda of Visa RB was third.
