Italy’s Federica Brignone won the women’s alpine ski opener for the second time in her career on Saturday while American first-run leader Mikaela Shiffrin faded to fifth. Brignone rose from third to first with a combined 2 minutes 16.05 seconds on the Sölden glacier for her 28th career victory. New Zealand’s Alice Robinson, the race winner in 2019, trailed by .17 of a second and Julia Scheib was third for hosts Austria, 1.08 seconds off the pace.
