Starting Monday, October 28, Apple is launching an “exciting week of announcements”. It is expected to be an important week for the American tech giant, as the company is likely to release the first batch of Apple Intelligence features for iPhone, Mac, and iPad. Besides, Apple is expected to release new Mac computers based on the M4 chip this week. Here’s what to expect

Apple Intelligence

Last week, Apple released the iOS 18.1 release candidate (RC) for developers and public beta testers. This indicates that the stable update may soon be launched for eligible iPhone users. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously reported that Apple could release the iOS 18.1 update along with updates for macOS and iPadOS on October 28. Thanks to this, users will receive the first batch of Apple Intelligence features.

With the new updates, Apple may introduce intelligent tools for system-wide texting assistance, an updated Siri interface, message summaries, photo editing tools, and more for eligible iPhones, Macs, and iPads. While the update will be available for all devices with the latest operating system, Apple Intelligence features will only be available for certain iPhones, Macs, and iPads that meet certain requirements. Specifically, Apple Intelligence will only be available on the new iPhone 16 series and iPhone 15 Pro models, while Macs require an Apple M-series chip to run these features. iPads with any M-series chip or A17 Pro chip or later will also support Apple Intelligence.

Mac

Last week, Apple’s vice president of marketing Greg Joswiak confirmed that the company is going to have an “exciting week of announcements” starting on Monday morning. This means that Apple is likely to make several announcements during the week, rather than holding a single event dedicated to the launch of new Macs on the M4 chip.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple has invited selected media representatives and creators to “hands-on briefings” on Wednesday in Los Angeles. He added that the company could unveil a new MacBook Pro M4, a new Mac mini, and a new 24-inch iMac model on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. This schedule will allow Apple to start hands-on sessions immediately after the final product announcement.

With the M4 update, Apple is expected to significantly improve its MacBook Pro. The new model will have a minimum of 16 GB of RAM in various variants, while the base model will likely include a 10-core processor and GPU configuration. Apple is also likely to increase the number of Thunderbolt 4 ports on the new MacBook Pro. Like the MacBook Pro, the new iMac model is expected to get a performance boost with at least 16GB of RAM and a 10-core processor and GPU.

The Mac mini may have a completely new look with a smaller body similar to the Apple TV. The new Mac mini is likely to skip a generation, which will run on the new M4 chip, with a configuration similar to that used in the iPad Pro. In terms of ports, the new Mac mini is expected to have up to five USB-C ports, completely ditching USB-A ports.
