Germany has recorded a 22% rise in deportations over the first nine months of 2024, official figures showed on Thursday. The increase in deportations comes amid heated political debates over the issue following the terrorist attack in the western city of Solingen in August in which the main suspect is believed to have evaded deportation to Bulgaria. In total, the Interior Ministry recorded 14,706 deportations during the period, up from 12,042 over the same timespan in 2023.
