Sony has announced that it is discontinuing sales of the Airpeak S1 camera drone. Sales of the product will end on March 31, 2025. Next year, Sony will also stop selling most of the drone’s accessories, but spare batteries and propellers will be available until March 31, 2026. Software checks, repairs, and maintenance will continue until March 31, 2030.

Airpeak S1 was first introduced during a virtual presentation at CES in 2021. The drone was designed to shoot high-definition video using a Sony full-frame mirrorless camera with an interchangeable Alpha lens. It could fly for 12 minutes with the camera attached and reached a maximum flight speed of 55.9 mph. Although the high-end drone would have cost buyers about $9,000 even without the purchase of accessories, reviews of it ranged from mediocre to completely negative.
