A majority of Germans would like to see Defence Minister Boris Pistorius run as candidate to replace Chancellor Olaf Scholz, a fellow Social Democrat, in the next general elections, according to a survey published on Friday. The poll, conducted by the Forsa opinion research institute on behalf of broadcaster RTL/ntv, found 57% of those surveyed were in favour of the Social Democrats fielding Pistorius as their candidate for the top job.
