Lithuania’s President Gitanas Nausėda is running for a second five-year term in office. The 59-year-old announced on Thursday that he will stand for re-election next year. “I am determined and committed to continuing the work I have begun,” Nausėda said in Vilnius. Lithuania is scheduled to elect a new president in a direct election on May 12, 2024. Nausėda has been head of state of the EU and NATO member state since 2019 and is the favourite in opinion polls for the election.
