Uruguayan Jorge Fossati on Wednesday was named the new coach of Peru’s national football team. The Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) said that the 71-year-old Fossati was chosen with the goal of qualifying to the 2026 World Cup, set to be played in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Fossati has recently led Lima’s Club Universitario de Deportes to win a title in Peru’s top flight Liga 1.
