NEWARK, N.J. — Rookie Connor Bedard left with an injury in the first period of the Chicago Blackhawks’ 4-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Friday and didn’t return. With 9 minutes, 11 seconds left in the period, Brendan Smith slammed into Bedard in the Hawks’ offensive zone, and the rookie spun to the ice. Bedard skated off holding his glove to his face and headed into the tunnel.
