NEWARK, N.J. — Rookie Connor Bedard left with an injury in the first period of the Chicago Blackhawks’ 4-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Friday and didn’t return. With 9 minutes, 11 seconds left in the period, Brendan Smith slammed into Bedard in the Hawks’ offensive zone, and the rookie spun to the ice.
