A long-standing gardening club has closed. The Shaw-cum-Donnington Gardening Club, founded in 1952, decided at a recent annual meeting to close down due to declining membership over recent years. The club has staged many seasonal flower, fruit and vegetable shows grown by the members, along with homemade produce and handicrafts. At the same meeting in December, members agreed that the remaining club funds should be used to purchase a commemorative bench and plaque at Donnington Recreation Ground, with approval from Shaw-cum-Donnington Parish Council.
