Two people were injured Monday evening in a fire at a vacant Lakewood building, police said. The site, which once housed a lumberyard, has been uninhabited for some time and the people who were injured were believed to be squatters, Lakewood Police Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith told NJ Advance Media. They were both taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, Staffordsmith said. The severity of the injuries was unclear.
