Mike Trippick donned a mitre to get his spell as Bishop’s Stortford Golf Club’s new Arch Bishop under way. He held his ceremonial drive-in as the new head of the seniors’ section and sent a glorious drive of 211 yards and 7 inches down the first fairway, with Rich Hunt winning the guess-the-distance prize. The day’s competition, held in sub-zero temperatures and on frozen greens, was won by Stuart Meachin and James Mitchell with 44 points.
